If you missed out on this year's Writer's Digest Books conference at BookExpo America, there's no need to fret. Thanks to a few video cameras, the World Wide Web and one great idea by my favorite editor, Maria Schneider (never hurts to occasionally kiss the boss' you-know-what), we've brought several of the sessions to you. Now you can watch seminars from bestselling author Jodi Picoult, super agent Donald Maass and more from the comfort of your living room. Isn't the Internet a beautiful thing? This, of course, is all part of our online strategy to bring you more of what you want--more content, more news and more information. We hope to roll out another blog here in the next couple of months, and there are even rumors circulating that our website may get a facelift. So stayed tuned. The party is just beginning.

In the August issue of Writer's Digest, WD Managing Editor Kara Gebhart Uhl talks with Frankie Mossman, whose heart-pounding tale of a backyard bunker was named the grand-prize winner of WD's genre-loving contest. "Frankie Mossman conceived the idea for her short story, 'The Bunker,' while driving her hour-and-a-half commute home from work. She noticed a billboard that said 'Are You Ready?' and while she never followed up, she assumed the billboard message was referring to terrorism. "'I just thought, We're so great at creating paranoia,' Mossman says. 'How do people react to that? What triggers people to react?'

"I'm super busy right now (well, right now I'm on a break) and I will not bother about housework until I have finished this job. I'm sure the dirt will be there when I'm done! "Some people give up snacks, watching a TV show, checking email every five minutes ... just don't give up participating here, of course. "How about it. What can you do without to write more?"
