We're thrilled to be key sponsor of the Family History Expo (formerly the Genealogy and Family Heritage Jamboree) in St. George, Utah, Feb. 8 and 9. It's shaping up to be chock-full of how-to classes, exhibitors and genealogical networking. You can read more about it on our blog and register on the MyAncestorsFound Web site.

Psst! One more thing, and don't tell my boss you heard it here: Look for an e-mail in the next few days about a sale on Family Tree Magazine back issue CDs. That's all I'm gonna say.

Indexing Does Your Research Good
Christine016 posted this tip
to the FamiliyTreeMagazine.com Forum:

I've been volunteering my time to the FamilySearch Indexing project, and the work has  accomplished a few things for me as a researcher. I've indexed over 10,000 names from census, birth, marriage, prison, and mortality records from the 1850s to the 1940s from the US, Canada, and Ireland. It's given me a great overview of the variety of records available and how to read them for meaningful information. Now that I have firsthand experience as an indexer, I can better predict what kind of errors can easily be made and I can better read the old fashioned handwriting. This has already helped me go back through my own line and locate additional records.
